Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
What an incredibly anal retentive, and labor intensive way to go about shortening the lifespan, and reliability of a cap.......... IMO.
What's the premise behind this writeup, I mean why do they think it'll sound better than the way it was in the beginning?

I think the concept of making a wooden case it kind of neat, but I certainly wouldn't take the metal jacket off, or associate better sound with it. I'm guessing that removing the metal jacket changes the magnetic flux inside the capacitor, a bit.

When I was much younger I worked for an Entrepreneur who built oil well logging gear. We built our on caps out of sheet copper and Teflon.
I did this cap mod, too. But now every time I play my Herb Alpert records it sound like the Tijuana Woodwinds!
